Music Maestro Ilayaraaja gave a new life to the coolest string instrument, the Guitar...Be it the acoustic or the electric, he set standards which has inspired and motivated millions of Guitar lovers like me..For example, in the song MUTHTHADUTHE MUTHTHADUTHE from film Nallavanukku Nallavan, the entire song from the start to the end has the electric guitar strumps in the Background non-stop!!! God knows how that guitarist played continuously!! In another classic example from film Geetha(Kannada), the song "Santhoshakke hadu" has the similar guitar magic....Coming to the incredible example, in the song Kaatril enthan geetham from Johnny, we hear a string instrument right from the beginning to the end...Though i am not sure which string instument it is, it is very difficult to play this piece on the Guitar as it involves holding 4 strings at a time..It is a well known fact that this guitar piece has been copied by a very famous Western music group. So please listen to Kaatril enthan geetham from Johnny and concentrate on the string instrument piece that comes right from the beginning of the song...Another snappy number is NEETHANE ENTHAN PON VASANTHAM from Ninaivellam Nithya...The Acoustic guitar strumps in the background throughout the song..In fact the guitar strumps at a totally irrelevant Shruti(Pitch) but it adds magic to SPB's voice..Only the genius Raaja can imagine so intensely...listen to this song and concentrate on the guitar In the song SAALAIYORAM SOLAI ONDRU from the musical film PAYANANGAL MUDIVATHILLAI, the song starts with the very fast electric guitar piece that is so difficult to play...Of course ILAYANILA POZHIGIRATHU is the song that is the most celebrated song by Raaja and SPB fans across the world...The acoustic guitar interludes in this song would give us those goose pimples!!
